“…authentic music is harmony, melody, and rhythm, perfectly tonal, it is the only way to make music.”

-Carlos Guastavino

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

The tender and melancholic scene established by Frost in his poem was ideal for a winter performance with young voices.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

My years of teaching adolescent voices and programming conceptual concert experiences has allowed me to cultivate my compositional and arranging skills.

Instead of trying to make a piece fit a concert, I compose or arrange something new that teaches the precise musical element that the developing students’ musicianship and skill call for.
